SkyEye Plus is specially engineered for:
Advanced Deep-sky Astrophotographers
Designed for experienced imagers, deep-sky enthusiasts, and remote observatory users who demand high sensitivity, low noise, excellent dynamic range, and reliable performance for demanding imaging projects.
Imagers with High-End Optics & Complete Systems
Whether you're using a compact telescope with an APS-C image circle or a premium optical system designed for full-frame coverage, SkyEye Plus offers the sensor format to match your setup. Full-frame models maximize field of view and optical coverage, while APS-C models provide an excellent balance of resolution, sensitivity, and system compatibility.
Why Choose the SkyEye26AC Plus
5 USB Ports for Simpler Imaging Setups
The integrated 5-port USB hub (4*USB2.0, 1*USB3.0) allows direct connection of accessories such as filter wheels, guide cameras, and focusers, reducing cable clutter and simplifying setup.
512MB DDR3 High-Speed Buffer
Featuring an onboard 512MB DDR3 buffer, the SkyEye Plus series camera ensures stable USB 3.0 data transfer, preventing frame loss and transmission-induced amp-glow. The camera supports digital pixel binning from 1x1 to 8x8 (via stacking or averaging) and hardware pixel binning from 1x1 to 3x3 (via averaging). On-sensor hardware binning provides significantly faster readout speeds and processing efficiency than software binning.
Zero Amp-Glow Technology
The SkyEye Plus series (except SkyEye45AC) camera features a specialized zero amp-glow circuit design that maintains a clean, perfectly uniform sensor background across multi-minute long exposures, protecting the faintest details of delicate nebulae.
Anti-Condensation Heating
The SkyEye Plus series optical window features an integrated smart heating system that actively measures ambient temperature and humidity. It automatically applies precise heat to prevent condensation, keeping your optical path crystal clear without introducing disruptive thermal air currents.
Two-Stage TEC Cooling
The camera utilizes a high-performance two-stage Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC) system. By achieving a cooling from -35°C to -42°C below ambient*, the SkyEye Plus series camera cools the sensor deeply and consistently, delivering exceptionally quiet background noise levels for long-exposure imaging.
*Note: Cooling performance may vary by model. Please refer to the product manual for detailed specifications.
Technical Specifications
ATR vs. SkyEye Plus: Which Series Do You Need?
The ATR Series offers a versatile and accessible solution for astrophotographers who prioritize flexibility, portability, and value, with sensor formats ranging from 1/1.2" to APS-C. The SkyEye Plus Series takes imaging performance further, combining premium sensors, advanced cooling, ultra-low read noise, and enhanced hardware integration across both APS-C and Full-Frame formats.
Sensor Format
The ATR Series offers a broad range of sensor formats, from 1/1.2" to APS-C, making it easy to match different telescopes and imaging setups. SkyEye Plus offers both APS-C and Full-Frame sensors, giving advanced imagers greater flexibility in balancing field of view, resolution, and optical system requirements.
Cooling & Thermal Performance
Both series feature TEC cooling for long-exposure astrophotography. SkyEye Plus further enhances thermal performance with an advanced cooling and control architecture, delivering up to Δ43°C cooling below ambient on selected Plus models for cleaner, more stable imaging during demanding sessions.
Optical Ecosystem & Hardware Integration
The ATR Series is designed for flexible, compact imaging setups and a wide range of telescope configurations. SkyEye Plus is optimized for more advanced imaging systems, with upgraded hardware integration and optical compatibility designed to support both APS-C and larger full-frame imaging trains.
Ideal Users & Applications
Designed for entry-to-intermediate astrophotographers, the ATR series prioritizes portability, quick setup, and high value. The SkyEye Plus series is built for advanced astrophotographers and uncompromising imagers who demand maximum photon collection and wall-art-quality deep-sky results.
One-Shot Color (OSC)
One-Shot Color (OSC) cameras streamline your workflow by capturing full-color images without a filter wheel, offering a fast and travel-friendly setup that is perfect for astrophotography beginners, mobile imagers, or anyone seeking high-quality results with minimal post-processing.
Monochrome (Mono)
Monochrome (Mono) cameras deliver superior photon efficiency and pixel-level sharpness by eliminating the light loss and resolution interpolation of a Bayer matrix. Mono imaging is tailored for dedicated deep-sky astrophotographers who demand maximum sensitivity, ultimate narrowband performance (Ha, OIII, SII), and full control over composite LRGB rendering under any sky condition.
SkyEye26AC Plus Performance Analysis
Powered by the Sony IMX571 APS-C sensor, SkyEye26AM/AC Plus combines excellent sensitivity, low noise, and wide dynamic range for advanced astrophotography. The color version delivers quantum efficiency exceeding 80%, while the monochrome version achieves over 91% QE for enhanced photon capture in LRGB and narrowband imaging. With HCG mode reaching read noise as low as 0.79e⁻ (Color) and 0.77e⁻ (Mono), and LCG mode providing up to 51ke⁻ full well capacity, the IMX571 enables cleaner images, smoother gradients, and reliable performance across a wide range of deep-sky targets.
