By adding the ECCO module to your EAGLE, it will automatically and continuously monitor the temperature, humidity and pressure around your telescope and the temperature of your lenses by calculating the dew point (the temperature below which dew condenses). This way it will vary the heating of dew heaters connected to the dew heater ports of the EAGLE avoiding condensation on your optics. It is automatic with this easy to use device. Just connect it to the EAGLE's USB port. For this reason we decided to call it ECCO. In Italian, it means "There you go!” The second generation ECCO now comes with USB-C type port, added pressure sensor, SMART control of temperature probes and DARK mode. ECCO2 is also provided with an ASCOM driver to control it also with third party software, also from standard Windows 10/11 computers!

Plug&Play functionality

We decided to call it ECCO not only because it is the “Environmental Computerized COntroller” but also because it is very easy to use (in Italian, ECCO means "There you go"). In fact, just connect the temperature sensors (to be fixed near the optics of your telescope) and the USB cable to one of the EAGLE USB ports (ECCO is compatible with second generation EAGLE equipped with dew heaters power ports), and press CONNECT button in the EAGLE Manager (it needs EAGLE Manager at least version 2.0). You can see in real time the dew point calculation, the temperature detected by the temperature probes you have installed and the variation of the power supplied by the EAGLE to the dew heaters. ECCO does not require external power supply!

EAGLE Manager starting from version 2.0 supports ECCO with dew point calculation and automatic control of power of dew heaters

Very easy to install on your telescope

PrimaluceLab ECCO can be installed on any finder base like our DX base or Celestron, SkyWatcher or GSO telescopes. It is therefore very easy to connect to your telescope. If you do not have a standard finder base, you can install one of the many optional bases and then connect the ECCO. We designed ECCO as an external module of the EAGLE and not as an integrated instrument because, if it were internal to the EAGLE, its measurements of temperature and humidity of the air would be influenced by the (even if weak) heat created by the EAGLE during use. With an external module, the data recorded by ECCO is incredibly precise.

ECCO installed on AIRY refractor telescope, connected to the EAGLE with USB port and with 2 external temperature probes

ECCO installed on a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, connected to the EAGLE with USB port and with 2 external temperature probes

Great PrimaLuceLab design

As with all our products, ECCO offers you innovative features in a product characterized by refined design and high quality construction. Made entirely of 6061 T6 aluminum and produced using CNC machines, ECCO is completely red anodized to increase the strength and durability of the materials. It can also be used as a finder support by adding the optional "Finder support for ECCO". By selectively reducing the transmission of wavelengths of light pollutants, specifically those produced by artificial lightings including mercury vapor lamps, both high & low pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere (i.e. skyglow). Together with the highly transparent in main nebula emission lines at OIII(496nm and 500nm), H-beta (486nm), NII(654nm and 658nm), H-alpha(656nm) as well as SII(672nm), the filter is suitable for enhancing the contrast and details for both visual and photograghic purpose at sub-rural area with heavy light pollution.

Optolong L-Pro is multi-bandpass filter which offers better color balance by maximizing the transmission band. The balanced transmission allows astrophotos to be taken with minimal color cast to broadband emission objects such as galaxies, reflection nebulae and globular star clusters. The same holds true for visual star observations.

L-Pro filter alone can suppress infrared wavelength, and thus can be used at ease for “L” image shootings with CCDs.

Light pollution filter do not eliminate the effects of light pollution or increase the object’s brightness. The camera is well suited for solar imaging using short focal length telescopes that will capture a full solar disk within the FOV.

Technical Specifications

Model

QHY5III174

CMOS Sensor

IMX174

Pixel Size

5.86um

Pixel Array

1920*1200

Effective Pixels

230 Megapixels

Sensor Optical Format

1/1.2-inch

Frame Rate@Full Frame

138FPS

Frame rate @ROI readout

262FPS@ 960*600

490FPS@ 480*300

Ful Well Capacity

32ke-

Readout Noise

1.6e- to 5.3e-

A/D

12-bit

Shutter Type

Electric Global Shutter

Color Version

QHY5III174C

Mono Version

QHY5III174M

Computer Interface

USB3.0

Non-volatile memory / On camera storage

Build-in total 512Kbytes Flash Memory. 100Kbytes user-accessible space for stellar ROI frames for analysis of exoplanet investigation, occultations, atmospheric seeing messurement, focus , optic analysis etc. Support 100*100 image x 10frames 50*50 image x40frames. 25*25 image x160frames 10*10 image * 1000 frames （total frame numbers is based on 8bit image）

Guide Port

Standard 6-pin RJ11 Guide Port

Telescope Interface

1.25-inch, CS mount

Weight

89g

In the Box

QHY5III174M
Confocal Ring
1.5m USB3.0 Cable
1.5m 5-pin lemo to RJ11 guide cable

Manual & This is particularly helpful for sensors with small pixels. In a typical front-illuminated sensor, photons from the target entering the photosensitive layer of the sensor must first pass through the metal wiring that is embedded just above the photosensitive layer. The wiring structure reflects some of the photons and reduces the efficiency of the sensor.

In the back- illuminated sensor the light is allowed to enter the photosensitive surface from the reverse side. In this case the sensor’s embedded wiring structure is below the photosensitive layer. As a result, more incoming photons strike the photosensitive layer and more electrons are generated and captured in the pixel well. This ratio of photon to electron production is called quantum efficiency. The higher the quantum efficiency the more efficient the sensor is at converting photons to electrons and hence the more sensitive the sensor is to capturing an image of something dim.

Zero Amplify Glow

This is also a zero amplifer glow camera.

TRUE RAW Data

In the DSLR implementation there is a RAW image output, but typically it is not completely RAW. Some evidence of noise reduction and hot pixel removal is still visible on close inspection. This can have a negative effect on the image for astronomy such as the “star eater” effect. However, QHY Cameras offer TRUE RAW IMAGE OUTPUT and produces an image comprised of the original signal only, thereby maintaining the maximum flexibility for post-acquisition astronomical image processing programs and other scientific imaging applications.

Anti-Dew Technology

Based on almost 20-year cooled camera design experience, The QHY cooled camera has implemented the fully dew control solutions. It blocks light pollution, maximizes the signal from nebulae, and darkens the sky background. It also blocks artificial light from mercury vapor lamps, high and low pressure sodium vapor lights, and unwanted natural light caused by the emission of neutral oxygen in our atmosphere. Maximizes the transmission of the main emission lines of the nebula in OIII (496nm and 500nm) and H-alpha (656nm). Used with DSLR, color/MONO CMOS and CCD, however, this filter is not suitable for fast ratio systems.

The advantage of L-Ultimate is that it only passes through the emission lines OIII(500.7nm) and Ha(656.3nm), in which case all other light pollution emission lines are eliminated so that only the emission and reflection signals of the nebula are captured during imaging. Therefore, the sky background of the image is darker, and the contrast between the nebulae and the signal-to-noise ratio are improved to the greatest extent. In heavy light pollution areas, the product can also selectively filter light pollution and clutter signals through the emission lines of nebulae, and finally avoid the impact of light pollution on astrophotography.

It is different from the series of dual-narrowband L-eNhance and L-eXtreme in that L-Ultimate is a dual-3nm bandwidth filter that only passes through Ha and OIII emission lines. You will get a darker sky background, more contrast of the image and the suppression on stars. L-Ultimate has also been optimized in terms of halo performance, so that there is no obvious halo when shooting on a bright star object.

Features

Sbustrate

optical glass

FWHM

OIII 3nm Ha 3nm

Blocking range

300-1000nm

Blocking

>OD4

Surface quality

60/40

Transmitted Wavefront RMS:

λ/4

Parallelism

30seconds

L-Ultimate Filter Performance

Nebulae Flying Bat and Squid in the constellation of Cepheus.
Squid (OU4) is a region characterized by very weak OIII emission with a bipolar shape reminiscent of planetary nebulae.
